I've said it before, and I'll say it again:  Whether or not you like the Kardashians, you know they're killin' the beauty game.  Heavy, mostly matte coverage + neutral colors equals sophisicated chic.  And, this particular magazine cover was noooo exception!

Here's my step-by-step advice for creating your own neutral glam:

-Prime and create a full-coverage canvas.
  • Primer.  If you have oily skin, though, I recommend the Ulta Mattifying Primer instead.
  • Foundation applied with a foundation brush (this is my new fave. check out the reviews.)
  • Under-Eye Concealer that doubles as a highlighter on the top of the cheekbones, center line of the nose, and above the cupid's bow
-Continue to contour and brighten.

  • Make a fish face, and apply bronzer using a sculpting brush to the shadows under the cheeks with a brown (not orange) bronzer.  Also apply near the hair line, and on the sides of the nose.
  • Lovely blush for the apples of the cheeks
-Layer nude shadows and build those lashes.
  • Some folks prefer to do their eyes before their faces.  I am one of them.  While the skincare absorbs into my skin.  Don't get discouraged if you look especially makeup challenged during the process.
  • Cover the entire lid with a shimmery shade of cream, like number 1 of this palette.
  • Make a dramatic eye contour using an angled liner brush and a neutral darker brown, like number 8 in the palette.  Use angled brush to "create" a crease above where the natural crease lies (also called the "cut crease technique"). Blend upward with a regular shadow brush.  Be sure to leave the area under the brow alone.
  • I go back one more time and add more cream colored shadow to the eye lid and brow bone. Add a little bit to the inner corners as well.
  • Curl the upper lashes.
  • On bottom water line, apply a nude or gold liner.
  • Draw a thick black line on upper lashes, a medium thick line on the bottom lash line (below the water line).  Smudge the lower line with a cotton swab, and beneath that, use the angled liner brush to apply a light amount of the dark brown shadow used ealier on the upper lid.
  • To wear falsies or not?  I prefer falsies for special occassions and a great lengthening mascara for everyday wear, like this one or that one.
-Frame your face with groomed brows.
  • Use a powder or cream brow product, using an angled liner brush.  I'm referencing the same brush used for eyeliner, but you will avoid a mishap by having a separate brush designated for brows.  Grooming brows takes a little practice.
-Lip Service:  Do as I say, not as I did.
  • My lipcolor became a little dark, yes?  I was experimenting with a new product, and it didn't totally mesh with the Kim K. look.  My apologies.
  • Instead you need this pale pink nude lipstick.

-The Outcome:  I'll never be a Kardashian, but I got some flattering compliments from this look.  I didn't filter or retouch these pics.  I felt confident.  Sometimes being high maintenance is worth the effort. Haha!

Love being able to hook you up with a deal!  If you order the eyeshadow palette, brow kit, lipstick, or any other item from 401 West, you get a 5% discount if you use promo code "Jenny."  If you're ordering from the US, the exchange rate with Canada works in your favor; prices will convert.
